Some days aren’t easy, but they don’t really reach the level of a crisis. They don’t require courage so much as endurance.
The problems were things like rain. Sure, flood stage but still just rain. Add computer updates that are required but don’t work, legal issues for others that somehow I have to deal with, a teething puppy and you get a slog of a day.
On days like today plans die out of boredom waiting for you to show up. You just get so distracted with random stuff that you run out of time.
At the end of the day you wonder where it all went. You know there will be other productive days but this one seems a total bust.
But that’s not really true.
We are in a terrible position to tell which days are gems and which days are mud. Things you didn’t plan and have no control over can affect life in oversized ways. I often have people thank me for something I said that don’t even remember saying. I was just being me.
When I ask them to explain, I realize they heard something I never actually said. What’s up with that? I have a theory.
I’ve often been reading a book or listening to a message when some phrase fires off rockets in my brain. The thought was just what I needed to hear. It changed my day and maybe even my life. I’m suddenly writing notes and making plans and don’t remember another word.
You could say this is serendipity or fate. You could say thoughts simply came together. But I don’t believe in coincidence.
I believe God, the creator of all creativity, give us ideas as we need them. Which explains why some people believe I helped. But I think they weren’t even listening to me at all.
Which takes a lot of pressure off me. With the rain and all . . .
